Lasting Impressions:
The time to stop talking is when the other person nods his head affirmatively but says nothing. - Henry S. Haskins
You might remember a column from last October title Cool CRM Vendors in which I wrote about the confusion we all face trying to know something about the more than 800 CRM vendors that bless our industry landscape. The question is this: How does one really get to know about that many vendors and their respective solutions?

The answer is simple - one doesn't. There is no way anyone, even the industry pundits who spend full time tracking what's new, can stay on top of it all. So do you give up and ignore learning anything about any of them? Of course not. You focus, you prioritize. You do your best.

In the spirit of knowing something meaningful about a smaller group of CRM solution providers, we are launching a new feature in this newsletter. We are calling it "Cool CRM." Over the course of time, we will feature vendors one at a time in a way that allows you to learn what they do and why we think they are cool so you can determine if they might be of value to you.

We will tell you a little about their products and services and what they have done for other companies. And we will provide resources so you can learn more if you want. So stay tuned. We are ready to start bringing "cool" to CRM. What's your take?

Article:    Ten Steps To A Practical Social Media Business Strategy
How can you make social media and Web 2.0 work for your business? Social media sites and models are really just “channels” from a marketing and CRM perspective -- requiring targeted approaches, expectations and even owners. But while experimenting with public social media and marketing campaigns is an essential first step for most businesses, simply having a presence on Facebook or Twitter does not mean you have a true social media business strategy. So where should we start after we get our “Facebook fix” and turn to leveraging social models more broadly and completely in our business?
