I read an article in the Wall Street Journal this morning with the title, "Web Sites Want You to Stick Around." I believe you need to be an online subscriber to read the story on their web site so that is why there is no link to the full story today. Sorry.
 
Although you might not be able to read the story, let me share one piece of information that might help you improve the online experience for your customers. U.S. Airways Group discovered that many customers were typing in their frequent flier numbers incorrectly, entering the letter "O" instead of the number zero.
 
You might want to check your customer support records to see if this common error is generating calls into your call center or email inquiries. Regardless, consider eliminating the "O" and the zero from your palate of customer ids. Does anyone do that today?

Appirio announced four new Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) offerings that bring together Google Apps and Salesforce CRM. The four Appirio offerings enable Salesforce and Google users to synchronize calendars, collaborate on marketing campaigns, find and embed documents, and create and share customized CRM dashboards.

Convio announced the results of its second annual Online Marketing Nonprofit Benchmark Index Study designed to help nonprofit marketing, advocacy, fundraising and communications professionals evaluate what online marketing metrics to focus on, evaluate how their organization is doing and determine targets to set for the future. This year's study uses data compiled from more than 400 nonprofit organizations, representing online interactions and transactions from nearly 40 million constituents from Convio's Software as a Service (SaaS) system.

Salesboom announced the release of an Enhanced Outlook Edition containing Outlook and CRM synch tools. The Enhanced Outlook Edition is a tool by Salesboom.com to help resolve user adoption hurdles which face the Web Based CRM Software Industry.

Service management software vendor Metrix and Trimble, a provider of Mobile Resource Management (MRM) solutions announced that they are working together to provide field service automation solutions to companies worldwide.

Extraprise, a CRM systems integration and B2B database marketing services provider, announced that it has introduced Extraprise Siebel Onshore Support, an outsourced support services offering that enables clients to reduce Siebel support costs by as much as 50%.

Oracle announced an array of organizations that rely on PeopleSoft Enterprise Release 9.0 to address business- critical strategic requirements. Companies include: Blackboard, Cytec, Drummond, Flagstar Bancorp, Michigan Sugar, Moody Bible Institute, Northwestern University and University of California, San Francisco.

SpeechCycle announced that its Rich Phone Applications (RPAs) yield a three-fold increase in overall call automation rates as compared to conventional IVR and stand-alone dialog system approaches. Based on an internal assessment of the more than 50 million calls processed through its SaaS offering to date, SpeechCycle showed gains from the fusion of natural language user interfaces with enterprise applications.

InstantService, a provider of chat and email management solutions, announced that Spiegel Brands has deployed the company's solutions on its Spiegel.com and Newport-news.com ecommerce sites. According to the retailer, by implementing the InstantService solutions, they are significantly improving the customer experience, as well as the bottom line.

Chordiant released Chordiant Decision Management version 6.1. This latest release of Chordiant's predictive decisioning solution adds new capabilities including new collaborative development, version management and off-line backup capabilities.

OpenSpan has joined the Oracle(R)PartnerNetwork and plans on providing integration of Oracle Customer Relationship Management (CRM) with legacy applications, thereby helping enterprises integrate and automate business process workflows. At present, the OpenSpan Platform has been licensed for use with Oracle's Siebel CRM applications on nearly 20,000 desktops.
