  10/25/06 - Selection Criteria - Continued
What does vendor viability mean in our new world of mergers and acquisitions? Sadly, there is little you can do as a purchaser of CRM software to stop a vendor from selling the company. Even if they have absolutely no interest to sell the company at the time you buy the software, an attractive offer some time in the future might change everything.
 
Of course, I still encourage you to ask vendors about how they see view their future and talk about any "exit strategies" the company may have. In addition, I encourage you to maintain open dialog with the company to understand how their business strategies change over time. But all that won't stop the dreaded announcement of a buyout.
 
So what do you do when your vendor has been acquired? What are the first things you need to do to protect your investment? What should you expect from your "new vendor?" Tell me your acquisition stories - both horror stories and happy endings.

Rare Method announced it has strengthened its position as a Canadian interactive marketing firm by acquiring Ground Level Design, a Calgary-based website development company. Terms of the cash deal were not disclosed.

NICE announced that CUNA Mutual Group expects to increase quality of customer service and revenues with NICE's holistic solution for contact centers with NICE Perform and TotalView from IEX, a NICE company. When all phases of the implementation are complete NICE will be implemented for 1000 agents at three sites.

Research from independent market analyst Datamonitor has found that the total value of venture capital (VC) invested into the technology sector in the first half of 2006 increased by $1bn on the levels invested during the equivalent year-ago period. Datamonitor's Technology Finance MarketWatch tracked 602 investment deals into technology companies in the first six months of the year, a rise of nearly 100 deals compared with activity over the same period in 2006 when 513 transactions were recorded.

eOn announced that it has partnered with HengSys Data Net Inc. to supply an emergency response management communications solution platform for the government of Dong Ying City, located in the Shan Dong province of the Peoples Republic of China.

West Corporation announced the completion of its previously announced recapitalization in a transaction sponsored by an investor group led by Thomas H. Lee Partners, L.P. and Quadrangle Group LLC. West Corporation common stock will be delisted from the Nasdaq Global Select Market and trading will be suspended prior to market open Wednesday, October 25, 2006.

Oracle announced new pre-built integrations that will enable organizations to reduce security costs and more rapidly incorporate Oracle Identity Management into their existing enterprise application environments.

Broadlook Technologies announced that it was chosen as the SugarCRM Project of the Month for its powerful Contact Capture product. Broadlook Contact Capture allows users to capture customer contact information from most digital formats including email, PDF, Excel, HTML.

Vignette announced a relationship with Microsoft to deliver innovative media solutions on the Microsoft platform.

Parature announced the appointment of David King as Vice President of Sales. Mr. King will be responsible for accelerating Parature's global sales initiatives, including both direct and channel sales efforts, as well as directing sales personnel nationwide.

netCustomer announced that its customers are saving up to 75% on their maintenance and support costs leveraging netCustomer's support model.
