Verint Witness Actionable Solutions Leverages Technology from RSA, the Security Division of EMC, to Help Customers Comply with PCI Standards

Software Enhancements Help Organizations Meet Security Compliance Requirements

MELVILLE, N.Y.--Verint® Systems Inc. today announced recent enhancements to its contact center and enterprise recording software, helping financial institutions and other organizations worldwide protect the privacy of their customers and consumer information.

In response to the guidelines established by the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Security Standards Council, Verint Witness Actionable Solutions™, the leading provider of analytics-driven workforce optimization software and services, offers customers the optional encryption of recorded customer interactions in the contact center and throughout the enterprise. One of the driving forces behind this large-scale security effort is the PCI Data Security Standard (DSS), a program backed by the PCI Security Standards Council.(1)

Software from Verint Witness Actionable Solutions is used to capture recordings with customers for compliance and quality assurance purposes. Because these recordings can contain sensitive credit card details, they require protection through an added level of encryption and a secure storage environment, as well as options not to record certain credit card authentication data at all. The company has incorporated the latest technology within its call recording solutions to encrypt these captured interactions.

“Encryption, however, is only one factor required in protecting credit card data and not all encryption methods are equally secure,” explains Brian Weiss, senior vice president of global product strategy, Verint Witness Actionable Solutions. “This led us to work with RSA, the security division of EMC, a premier provider of security solutions used by many Fortune 500 companies to address these security challenges.”

RSA® Key Manager is engineered to provide encryption at the application layer and centralizes the provisioning and lifecycle management of encryption keys for Verint Witness Actionable Solutions’ recording solutions. It is designed to alleviate the challenges associated with the key management by managing access rules and lifecycle decisions – simplifying security policy deployment and ongoing administration. The company’s recording and replay software functionality is fully interoperable with RSA Key Manager to allow seamless and transparent operation.

The encryption and key management features provided by RSA Key Manager are optional functions that can be licensed with Verint Witness Actionable Solutions’ software to help customers adapt their recording solutions to meet PCI DSS requirements around protection of card holder data.

Existing customers, including those using the company’s recently launched, next-generation Impact 360® solution – can deploy the new security options, which include:

Encryption of recorded data on storage devices used by the recording systems through strong cryptographic algorithms, helping customers protect sensitive data.

Encryption of recorded data when transmitted over the network, allowing organizations to guard sensitive data as it is transmitted.

Encryption and configuration of authentication information, enabling customers to make recorded data unreadable without authorized access to encryption keys.

Selective non-recording of certain parts of a conversation, making it easier to support security requirements around the types of data that can or cannot be stored.

Auditing of all access to recorded data, adding a layer of increased security by limiting physical access to data.

Verint Witness Actionable Solutions’ new security options, such as encryption and selective non-recording, are patent pending. Adds Weiss, “The addition of encryption to our analytics-driven workforce optimization solutions with RSA Key Manager delivers significant value to our customer base. Encryption of recordings is fundamental to enable compliance with PCI and other regulatory requirements. We are committed to providing our customers with software that helps build a secure environment, meets the highest security standards in the industry and guards customer investments through strong intellectual property protection.”

“We’re happy to be working with Verint Witness Actionable Solutions to help deliver capabilities that enable customers to tackle the challenges associated with achieving PCI DSS compliance,” says Steve Preston, senior director of solutions marketing, RSA. “Sensitive information resides in numerous places across customer organizations – and in many different formats. Encrypting call recordings adds another layer of security, and helps enable RSA and Verint Witness Actionable Solutions customers to both achieve and maintain compliance with the PCI standard.”

(1) The council is a global forum for the ongoing development, enhancement, storage, dissemination and implementation of security standards for account data protection. It was formed by the major payment card companies including American Express, Discover Financial Services, JCB, MasterCard Worldwide and Visa International.
