FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Pervasive Software and PeopleForce Aggregate Siloed Information Quickly for New Jersey First Responders to Enhance Service, Metrics and Resource Allocation
Business Process Innovation Company Achieves National EMS Information System
Compliance for Customers
AUSTIN, Texas, Feb. 20 -- Pervasive Software(R) Inc. (Nasdaq: PVSW), a global value leader in embeddable data management and agile integration software, today announced PeopleForce, a business process innovation services company, has implemented Pervasive(R) Data Integrator(TM) to compete aggressively on speed of execution and quickly address customers' healthcare data integration challenges. Pervasive Data Integrator adds power and efficiency by providing a comprehensive platform for mapping legacy data into new standards and platforms. For the first time, The New Jersey State First Aid Council (NJSFAC) has the ability to demonstrate the value of EMS agencies statewide, including many volunteer-staffed organizations, in clear, quantitative terms.
PeopleForce leveraged Pervasive Data Integrator to enable its client NJSFAC to consolidate highly disparate data and standardize response records from more than 200 New Jersey EMS agencies and organizations into National Emergency Medical Services Information System (NEMSIS) compliant formats. With first responder organizations ranging in size and staff experience and nearly every emergency response involving more than one agency, multiple records were siloed across disparate sources. PeopleForce began by creating a standard form available to all participating EMS squads over the Internet. As a survey, the form elicits incident reports from first responders across the state, and the reports are then aggregated for later analysis and retrieval. PeopleForce trained more than 1,000 network members statewide, who were up and running within days. First responders now are able to input data over the Internet to be aggregated into a central repository that powers reporting of response times, activities, miles driven, patient data and demographics. According to PeopleForce CEO Dave Herman, the result makes PeopleForce one of a few companies nationwide to have achieved NEMSIS compliance for its customers, and the company is now considered a leading vendor candidate in other state EMS compliance projects.
Agencies in New Jersey now analyze the data to anticipate and improve performance. In addition, PeopleForce is working with the Office of Information Technology for the New Jersey State Police to integrate crash and citation data with New Jersey EMS data for a next-generation platform that will feed statistical research and resource allocation for both funding and equipment. In July, PeopleForce was invited to present to a U.S. Department of Transportation Blue-Ribbon Panel to demonstrate how this project is a model for building consensus among large number of constituents, creating meaningful metrics and reporting, and driving better accountability and document resource requirements for mutual aid agencies and funding reviews.
"This was a high-stakes project," said Dave Herman, president and CEO of PeopleForce. "Custom code could have provided the solution, but we didn't see the justification in paying high prices for specialized developer resources and then waiting weeks or months for a solution. Pervasive allows us to take some of the 'world's ugliest data' and turn it into structured data that can be used across our emergency service organizations."
"Unstructured data is all around us, including emergency services and the healthcare industry," said Mike Hoskins, CTO of Pervasive Software. "Time and again we help partners and customers who realize custom code is costly in time and resources. Pervasive puts more than 20 years of data integration technology and experience at their fingertips to deliver agile, rapid integration with a low cost of ownership."
