His daily column "My Take" set the bar for customer management blogs with more than a fifteen hundred entries since 2005.
He has been a major contributor in many industry journals and is often
quoted in industry and business publications. His Customer Support Management Magazine column won the American
Society of Business Publication Editors’ national award for Best Regular
Column, Contributed. Gary has also been recognized
by the editors of IT Support News Magazine as one of the top 25
professionals that have made an impact on the industry. Help Desk Professionals named him a Help Desk Industry Legend.
He regularly speaks at industry conferences, seminars, and user groups and
provides advice to CRM and contact center solution providers.
Gary has hosted hundreds of Internet broadcasts on a wide range of topics to help customer-facing organizations
be customer advocates. Additionally, he created
the original CRM Stock Index that tracked the financial health of the
industry. Gary launched the Users Choice Awards recognizing “best-in-class"
customer relationship products and services based on the judgments of the
most important stakeholders, the people who use the products to run their
businesses.
Prior to CRMAdvocate, Gary was Vice President of Marketing
and Development for Software Artistry (acquired by IBM and subsequently sold
to Peregrine Systems) and served as Worldwide Marketing Manager for
Hewlett-Packard’s UNIX Computer Systems. He has a B.S. in Mechanical
Engineering from Purdue University. Gary serves as an advisor on various
industry boards and has also served on the Board of Trustees for the internationally
acclaimed Children's Museum of Indianapolis.
